Sofabed.co.uk is an online store owned and wholly run by Blackdog Upholstery Limited.  The sofabed.co.uk website has been selling sofabeds for over ten years and has a reputation for excellence and customer service.  We are a specialist sofabed manufacturer that supplies direct to the public, thus cutting out unnecessary reseller costs.

We manufacture all our sofabeds in our 2 UK based factories.  We have one factory in Cheshire and another in Staffordshire.

Simply put we are the genuine manufacturer, we make the wooden frames, fill our own cushions, shape the foam cut and sew the fabric, upholster the frames,we even make our own mattresses.  This is all undertaken by our skilled crafts people in our own factories. Unlike many online sellers and shop based retailers who double up on their buy price due to high rents,rates and marketing costs, when you buy from us you get the price advantage of dealing with a  vertically integrated British Manufacturer.

So you will be buying a product that for example would retail for in excess of £1500 for say £700,without any compromise on quality or service. Indeed our seamless order processing, manufacturing and dispatch system ensures that you will generally receive your furniture much more quickly than from a store based retailer, delivered to your home by a dedicated white glove delivery service anywhere in the UK mainland.

The sofabed is supplied with foam seat cushions and either foam or fibre back cushions.  The foam cushions are relatively firm, but are very comfortable.  It is personal choice, but some customers prefer softer seat cushions.  Should you require softer cushions this can be requested at the point of order.

Our sofabeds are designed for occasional use by guests and not to be a replacement for a standard bed.  The sofabeds though are very comfortable as the mattress works with the trampoline base below to create a good nights sleep.  We also offer an upgrade to a hotel sofabed action.  This has a much stronger frame and thicker mattress that is suitable for more regular use.

We can make any of our sofabeds to order in a customers own fabric.  If you would like to do this please call 01606 594404 and we will let you know how much fabric is required.  To meet UK Fire and Furniture regulations we will require the fabric to be supplied to us with a UK fire certificate.

Once open the bed is a small double bed which has a sleep area of 188 x 120cm.  This can be increased to a standard sized double bed by selecting the Wider bed upgrade.  This upgrade will add approximately 20cm to the width of the sleep area and also add 20cm to the width of the sofa.

Our sofabeds are designed to be used on an occasional basis and can sleep two adults.  A stronger sofabed action is available should it be required.  The Hotel upgrade has a stronger metal frame and thicker mattress that is more robust and is more suited to more regular use.

All our sofabeds are supplied fully assembled and come with a 1 year manufacturing guarantee.  This guarantee is subject to normal usage.

It is possible to use you own fabric in the manufacture of one of our sofabeds.  If you wish to do this please contact our office on 01606 594404 and we will discuss this with you and let you know how much fabric we would need.  Please note that we would need a UK fire certificate providing with any fabric that you supplied.  Also we would not be able to accept the return of any sofabed that we manufactured in a customers own fabric as this is a bespoke product.

Our seat cushions are made from foam and our back cushions are made from virgin polyester fibre.

Our sofabeds have a 3-fold mechanism with a trampoline base.  The bed is composed of a foam mattress which sits upon a trampoline base, thus mimicking the feeling and comfort of a fully sprung mattress.

Both our pocket sprung and foam sofabed mattresses are 6cm thick. They work with the trampoline base below to mimic a traditional bed mattress and provide a comfortable nights sleep.  The mattresses in our upgraded hotel sofabed actions are thicker and are 10cm thick.

All our sofabed mattresses fold away into the sofa so do not need to be stored separately.

Payment on sofabed.co.uk can be made with any major credit or debit card through our payment partner – Take Payments.  As an alternative you can also pay at checkout through Paypal, Apple Pay, Klarna or Google Pay.  Should you wish to order over the telephone we can take orders with all major credit or debit cards with the exception of American Express.

Our payment gateway is provided by Take Payments who work in conjunction with Barclays. Sofabed.co.uk also utilises SSL encryption software which encrypts the site.

Our fabrics are man made upholstery fabrics with a high rub count that have been specially selected for our range of sofabeds.

We do not sell leather sofabeds.  We have over 130 fabrics to choose from including a range of durable and beautiful Faux Leather fabrics.

No, the mattress folds into the base of the sofabed with the sofabed action.

This gap should be there. It can be filled by placing the seat cushions in the gap when the sofabed is open and in the bed mode.

Once we have received your order we will send you a confirmation email. We will also call you to confirm we have received your order and to run through any customisation choices.  Please note the office is open Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm so the call will take place during office hours.

Delivery is £45 to any UK Mainland postcode.

As all our sofabeds are made to order and we work on a 28 day lead-time.  Should you need your sofabed quicker, please call us on 01606 594404 and we will do our best to assist you.

It is possible to have a sofabed delivered outside the UK.  Should you wish to place an order and arrange this please call us on 01606 594404.

From order to delivery takes 28 days.  If you need a sofabed quicker than 28 days this can be done. We can make and deliver sofabeds in as little as 14 days.

We offer two ways that you can pay for the sofabed in instalments. Through Klarna and Paypal you can choose to pay for your sofabed in three instalments.

The foam and pocket mattresses are the same thickness of 6cm.  The main difference is in the construction.  The foam mattress is made with a foam inner and the pocket sprung mattress has a series of individual springs in pockets.  Both mattresses work with the trampoline base below to create a comfortable sleep and the difference between the two largely comes down to personal preference.

The sofabeds contain a metal sofabed and solid wooden frame so are quite heavy.  This is one of the reasons that we deliver them to the room of choice so that once they are in the room they will not need moving.  If the sofabed is to be moved we would recommend that this is not attempted alone and that two people move it.

All the sofabeds that we manufacture are bespoke to an individuals requirements.

Under The Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations 2000, you normally have the right to cancel a contract within seven days – starting from the day after you take delivery of goods (a “cooling off period”).  However due to the nature of a sofa bed, and for hygiene reasons, and as our sofa beds are all cut and made to order the seven day rule does not apply. This is as per rule 3:38 of the Guide for Businesses on Distance Selling, dated September 2006

However, should you wish to return your sofabed we will accept this within 14 days of delivery.  There will though be a restocking fee of 60% which will be deducted from your refund as well as any delivery costs incurred. Please see our Terms & Conditions for full details.

Yes, this is easily arranged. Just give the company a ring and we will arrange a convenient time to suit you, and we will of course load the sofabed into your vehicle

Yes we have a limited range of stock sofabeds that are available for next day despatch.

We do not have a showroom.  However our factory is located in Winsford, Cheshire and customers are very welcome to visit.

Our sofabeds are designed to fit through standard house doors.  They are delivered fully assembled to the room of your choice.  The dimensions of each sofabed and  the minimum door widths can be found on our Measurement Guide https://sofabed.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/sofabed.co_.uk-dimensions.pdf .  We also offer sofabeds that are delivered in kit form or with bolt on arms that are perfect for small spaces so that customers can assemble them in the room.

Our sofabeds are made to order and delivered to the room of your choice fully assembled.  We also offer an option of bolt on arms for our sofabeds.  This option allows sofabeds to be delivered to smaller spaces and through narrower doors.  If this option is chosen the customer will need to bolt the arms on themselves.

Our Sofabeds are made to order by us with a solid wooden frame and metal sofabed action.  The sofabeds come with a 12 month manufacturing warranty and a 10 year frame guarantee.

The sofabeds do not have storage as the cavity in the sofa contains the sofabed action.  It is possible to have storage in the corner sofabed.  This is not a standard option, if you require this please call 01606 594404 to discuss your requirements.

It is possible to have the light wooden feet in a darker wood finish to complement your fabric choice.  If you require this please add this as a note on you order.

Unfortunately, we do not take away old sofas or sofabeds.

We deliver either on our own van or via a third party carrier company BJS.

Yes the two man delivery team deliver to your room of choice.

We offer a range of Clearance sofabeds with discounts up to 50%.  These are returns, seconds and samples.

We work with a very limited number of resellers, but over 90% of our sofabeds are sold via this website

Yes we manufacture sofabeds for Hotels and Guesthouses either from our standard range or in your choice of fabric.

Yes we supply the trade as we are a bespoke upholstery company.

Yes we do.  The price of the sofabed will be as listed on the website.  Delivery cost will be dependent on your location.  You can arrange you own delivery and we can also deliver to a freight forwarder in the UK.

We hold in stock many fabrics that are not shown on the website.  Contact 01606 594404 if you cannot see a suitable fabric on the website.

The cushions covers should not be washed as they have a flame retardant treatment that maybe removed by washing.  We would recommend wiping clean instead.
